SOMETHING FOR THE WEEKEND

As it's Halloween tomorrow, I thought I'd despense with the usual punk-orientated music video and instead give you a few clips and some valuable commentary on one of the finest ghost stories on film. Hope you enjoy the following video in praise of THE STONE TAPE. You can read my review HERE

The DVD is currently out of print in the UK, so ebay may be a good bet for those who wish to track down a copy.
Look out for video of London's National Film Theatre amongst the clips; a great venue where I caught many screenings.

  1. I'm DYING to see this! I read about it years ago but I haven't been able to track down a copy. Nice to read your write-ups about the film here but now I only want to see it more.

  2. Hi, Kimberley.
Just been checking out Amazon UK, and private sellers are starting at £47! Ouch!

We need to campaign for a re-release.

    Thanks for stopping by.

  3. If John Carpenter admired the man's work, it's definitely worth seeing. The clip reminded me of the fine adaptation of Richard Matheson's ghost work, Hell House, in THE LEGEND OF HELL HOUSE ('73). Hopefully, this will eventually get a re-release. I'd love to see it. Thanks for this, Steve.

  4. Thanks, Michael. Funny you should mention Legend, as this film will feature in a Halloween list I'll post on tomorrow.

  5. I am a HUGE fan of THE LEGEND OF HELL HOUSE too. I just caught on Turner Classic Movies a little while ago and it blew me away!

I have not heard of THE STONE TAPE but I quite enjoyed your review. Sounds very intriguing.
